Longs Peak Council Wood Badge training is usually held every August on two weekends from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.
In 2018 the program will be conducted by Longs Peak Council at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch as two sessions on August 3-5 and August 17-19.Ben Delatour Scout Ranch is located 45 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado, near the village of Red Feather Lakes, at an elevation between 7,200 feet and 8,000 feet. Wood Badge is the advanced training program for all BSA Leadership (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing Leaders). Wood Badge is designed to train adult volunteer leaders, as well as Professional Scouters, using the latest leadership skills. Techniques and skills learned will help you become a better leader. Starting in 1919, and continuing today, Wood Badge is the preeminent leadership training offered by the Boy Scouts of America.
In 1911, Baden Powell took the first steps in training Scouting’s adult leaders by organizing a series of lectures for Scouters. He made great strides in the years that followed, culminating in 1919 with the establishment of Wood Badge training. Wood Badge recipients number more than 100,000 and can be found around the world.
Who Should Attend:
Wood Badge has been developed for all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venturing leaders, as well as council and district leaders. The course content, and team leadership principles introduced apply to Scouters in all leadership positions, both inside and outside of Scouting.
Cost: $275 ($50 non-refundable deposit due with registration)
Early Bird Discount: A $25 discount will be offered to those who register and pay the $50 deposit by April 1 and pay all fees ($250 total) not later than May 1, 2018. All course fees must be paid in full by July 1, 2018.
Space is limited to 48 participants, so register early! In the event the application is not accepted, total fees will be refunded. Candidates will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, until the course reaches required capacity. Alternates will be notified, and placed on a waitlist.
Upon receipt, and approval of the application, additional W2-62-18 course information will be sent.
