All registered leaders, potential leaders and parents looking for the very best program for their youth in Scouting will find a variety of class session relevant to their current, or future position in Scouting.

BALOO TRAINING PART 2 – THE OUTDOOR TRAINING

For those that attended BALOO part 1 at the Council Leader Training in March at MCR, here is the information on Part 2.  Once you decide which class you will attend, please go to Tentaroo to register.

BALOO Campout – Crow Valley, April 21-22, checkin at 10 AM on Saturday, April 21

BALOO Campout – BDSR., May 5-6, checkin at 10 AM on Saturday, May 5

Both sessions are $10 per person, you only need to attend one of these.  You will be purchasing and preparing your food as part of the training and you will receive more information on that after you register.  Be sure to bring your own camping gear, sleeping bag, pillow and personal items.  If you have questions or need more information contact Fede Pacheco at federico.pacheco@comcast.net

For those that are coming to this portion of the BALOO training.

The BALOO class portion is in November.  That is necessary to get the certification.  I am working on the specific date with the council and the instructor.

The meals fee for the events is per head attending, and it is on top of the event registration.

The meal fee is collected at the campsite at the start of the Campout event that you have signed for.

Either the instructor or Fede will collect the fees.

Registration is now open at – Longs Peak Council-Tentaroo Registration – when you login to tentaroo, scroll down the events list to “BALOO Training”.  Select that training, then click the “Event Registration” button.  That will bring up the adult roster.  Select the name of the person taking the training.  This will bring up a menu of trainings.  Select the BALOO training you want and “Create Registration” then save.  You can then go to your “Cart” and make your payment!  If you have registration questions contact Cindy at 970-584-2202 or CampRegistration@longspeakbsa.org.


PADDLE CRAFT SAFETY TRAINING

Planning a canoe trip with your Troop or Crew. Going to the Boundary Waters High Adventure Base, Would you like to rent the Council’s canoes for a weekend for your Troop or Crew. Then you need Paddle Craft Safety certification meet the BSA’s requirements. The course will start in the classroom, and after lunch will move to the water for skills practice. In addition to the paddle craft skills, we will also be reviewing swim test administration. All participants must be a BSA swimmer, and will the tested before proceeding to the paddle craft skills portion of the course.  This is a once a year training, at best, so don’t miss this!

The course will be held in Eastern Colorado at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 322 Gum Ave., Akron, CO with the canoeing to be done at Akron Ponds. This course is not scheduled to be offered again within the Longs Peak Council before the 2018 summer season.

COST: $15

INCLUDES: Certification, Lunch, Canoes, Paddles and PFD’s

DOES NOT INCLUDE: Aquatics Supervision manual, pick up a copy at the Scout Store, or obtain a pdf online.

PARTICIPANTS: is limited to 12, and minimum of 6. Participants should plan to be in the water and wet.
