We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to help keep all of our camps in tip top shape for the Scouts that use and enjoy them. If you are interested in volunteering at any of the Longs Peak Council camps, feel free to call the Greeley Service Center for more information.
Museum Hosts Needed
A great opportunity to spend a week or more on 3201 acres of prime mountain property awaits. The Longs Peak Council Scouting Museum, also known as the Daniel Armstrong Heritage Center is located at the Ben DeLatour Scout Ranch near Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. The museum needs to be manned for the seven weeks of camp. The museum host will interact daily with many scouts and leaders hungry for knowledge about BDSR and it’s historical sites, the Longs Peak Council and scouting in general. Many are out of state and foreign visitors.
As a museum host you will serve for a week as unpaid staff. There are a few perks though. There is on-site living quarters including a small fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and a single bed. You may also eat all of your meals at the dining hall. The hours of operation are such that you will be able to enjoy hiking and the beauty of nature BDSR that has to offer. Or you may want to linger on the porch and enjoy the view of Coral Rock. In the evening you will discover why it is named so. The roll of museum host is a very fulfilling experience. Fear not, there is a comprehensive guide book as well as a pre-camp meeting to help to bring you up to speed.
The weeks open and awaiting your service areas follows:
- Week 1 June 11-16
- Week 2 June 18-23 (LDS Encampment)
- Week 3 June 25-30
- Week 4 July 5-7 (short week due to holiday)
