Forestry Field Day

  • Discover how the Mountain pine beetle is killing so many of Colorado’s trees.
  • Take part in a forestry project.
  • Earn your Forester Badge (Webelos) or your Forestry Merit Badge (Scouts)

Cost:Cost for the day is $3.00
Times:Boy Scouts should report to the camp parking lot (at the museum) at 10:00am.
Webelos should report at the same location at 11:00am.
Register:Register by April 10th.

Bring:Dress for cool weather and bring a lunch, water, pencil or pen and a desire to learn.

Professional Foresters and Forestry Students from Colorado State University will be instructing the Webelos Forester Badge and Forestry Merit Badge at Ben Delatour Scout Ranch on Saturday, April 18. Scouts attending the entire session will be able to complete their badge on that Saturday.

Boy Scouts working on the Forestry merit Badge should arrive at the Coffin Shelter by 10:00 am. Bring warm clothes, lunch, water, and a pencil or pen. The boys will be outside all day observing forest management activities, studying the natural environment, and completing a forestry project. Each Scout will receive a handbook to complete during the day. Boy Scouts should bring a completed Merit Badge blue card that will be turned in upon arrival.

Webelos should arrive at 11:00 am with the same personal equipment as the Boy Scouts. They will also be issued a handbook for the day's activities. Both groups will finish by 4:00.

Cost for the day is $3.00. Attendance is limited to the first 75 Boy Scouts and 60 Webelos Scouts that register.

Register by April 10th. Fill out the registration form at the bottom of this page and mail it with your $3.00 to the Longs Peak Council Farr Service Center in Greeley.
