Longs Peak Council BSA Centennial Celebration 9/24/2010 – 9/26/2010
Please plan to join us from September 24-26, 2010 to
celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of
America. The event will be held at Hermit Park in Larimer County.
This event is planned to replace the district Fall Camporees that will be held
in 2010. This event is open to all Webelos, Scouts and Scouters. We would like to
see the Troops and Crews join us for the weekend and everyone else join us on
Saturday.
Hermit Park is located just east of Estes Park on US highway 36. Hermit Park is a Larimer County Recreation Area. It is close to Rocky Mountain National Park. You may wish to include a visit to the park before or after this event. Saturday is the program day. Each district and the OA will host events. Currently the program is as follows: - Low Cope - Climbing Wall - Tipi Village - Pioneering Challenge - Archery/BB/Wrist Rocket - Ham Radio - Obstacle Course - Hike Kruger Rock - Mountain Biking - 50/90 Activities - Horseshoes - Fishing Activity - Mountain Boarding - Special guest speaker - Campfire - Lunch provided by camp
See the Leader's Guide for additional information.
Larimer County provides information about Hermit Park. The information in the Leader's Guide supersedes the information found on the County Website. No RV's are allowed in the park during the Camporee. A nearby RV park is available if desired. You will need to make your own arrangements if you desire to stay there.
Long's Peak Council is offering 100th Anniversary memorabilia for sale. Several items area available and are branded with the Long's Peak Council 100th anniversary logo.
The Centennial Celebration staff is looking for adult volunteers, not associated with a unit, to pre-register to assist in running the activities during the event. If you are interested in helping, please fill out this form and the event coordinators will get in touch with you.
