This program is a week-long backpacking program. Participants will spend the week in the backcountry of BDSR doing climbs that most people never see! Be prepared for a long strenuous week. Participants will need to provide all of their own backpacking equipment, as the week will be spent 100% in the backcountry with the exception of the first and last nights.
Participants must have previously earned the Climbing Merit Badge (no exceptions), must have the endurance for an extreme week of physical activity, and must be 13 by January 1, 2009.
Cost: $270.00 per participant (limited to 10 participants)
See the flyer for more details.
Participants in this program will spend half their week on the C.O.P.E. course (both high and low elements) and half their week experiencing a variety of climbs at BDSR. Participants will work, and should earn the Climbing merit badge during their stay.
C.O.P.E
C - Challenging
O - Outdoor
P - Personal
E - Experience |
Project C.O.P.E is a high-energy program designed to challenge and expand the physical and mental abilities of participants seeking this unique experience. All participants will begin the week with team-building exercises and initiative games. They will then move on to the high course to challenge their physical abilities as well as continuing to challenge their ability to work as a team.
Climbing
Participants will spend half of their week enjoying learning the techniques of climbing. They should leave having earned the climbing merit badge. They will also get to explore the climbing program a little bit more in depth than a typical camper at BDSR. This is a great opportunity for Scouts who have developed an interest in rock climbing. Remember we climb on real rocks at BDSR.
Cost: $270.00 per participant
Participants must be 13 by January 1, 2009.
See the flyer for more details.
This week will be filled with fun shooting experiences.
All participants will have
the opportunity to work
on Rifle Merit Badge,
Shotgun Merit Badge and Archery Merit Badge.
This week will be spent in classroom time and on the shooting ranges. All participants will be instructed in safety rules, use and storage of firearms and proper shooting techniques,
ammunition reloading and will have the opportunity to advance in the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program. This week is great for the beginners and for experienced shooters wanting to learn and advance their shooting skills.
Limit of 10 Scouts per Unit (additional Scouts from the same unit can be put on the waitlist and added if the course is not full as of 6/15/09).
